YEARS 50, MADRID, ART DECO, CONTEMPORARY ART, DESIGN 12/04/2021

I am thrilled that my work “Punishment” is in the magazine AD Spain which is dedicated to the house of the 1950s in the centre of Madrid, full of authentic high-value features complemented by works of contemporary art and designers. A house that looks like a gallery. I had the pleasure of being hosted for three days during the installation of my project.
There are houses that look like art gallery, and this, in addition, would please any design lover. In Madrid’s Chamberí neighbourhood, you will find this house of around 400 m2, where each space is a lesson in how to preserve and make the most of the original elements of the apartment, thanks to the joint work of the interior design studio of María Antonia Sánchez, that of Quam Arquitectos architecture and the execution of Arquimac.
In addition, as an aristocratic building of the 1930s, it also maintained an Art Deco air with details such as stained glass windows and marble, which were given great importance: “We kept the materials of the time, such as the authentic Venetian terrazzo, original stones, and brass, scratched glass, etc. and we add more modern elements, such as floor-to-ceiling doors, ”says María Antonia Sánchez, interior design. At the entrance, the original stained glass window captured all eyes. A marble table complemented it by Angelo Mangiarotti in the centre, on which rest the authentic Murano vases, all from LA Studio.
The living room, previously divided into several spaces, became an ample open space and was painted white to take advantage of natural light and emphasize the works of art. On the main wall is the work of the Greek artist based in London, Rania Schoretsaniti, who came personally to install it at home …….
